SECTION 4.
Sir,
Foreign Office to India Office.
Foreign Office, July 6, 1910. I AM directed by Secretary Sir Edward Grey to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 1st instant, forwarding a despatch from the Government of India containing their views on the question of the proposed Opium Conference at The Hague, and expressing the opinion that such a conference would appear to be premature at present.
With reference to the last paragraph of your letter, I am to state that it has been suggested to the Colonial Office and Board of Trade that Tuesday, the 12th July, at 3 P.M., might be a convenient date for the meeting of the Inter-departmental Committee at this Office. I am to express the hope that this date may also be convenient to the representative deputed to attend on behalf of your department.
I am, &c.
